Nearly 200 marijuana business licenses applications have been submitted in Alaska since the state opened its application process on Feb. 24, according to a state list.
As of March 14, there were 47 retail dispensary applications, 89 “standard cultivation site” applications, 42 “limited cultivation site” applications, eight applications for concentrate production facilities, six applications for product manufacturing facilities, and three testing site applications. That’s a grand total of 195 applications.
Many applicants made multiple submissions.
In an earlier statement, the Alaska Marijuana Control Board (MCB) said it would likely be mid-March when it would start reviewing applications turned in during the first week of the application period.
The Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office will send submitted applications to the municipality in which the applicant wants to locate the business. The municipality will have 60 days to protest the application.
The MCB expects to approve the first testing and cultivation licenses by early June, while product manufacturing and retail store licenses will be processed afterwards. The agency expects to approve the first product manufacturing and retail store licenses in September.
