Alabama panel backs medical marijuana legalization

Alabama’s Medical Cannabis Study Commission overwhelmingly voted to recommend legislation that would legalize medical marijuana in the state.

Among other things, the commission stressed the need for “stringent experience and financial qualifications” for any applicant seeking a license as a cultivator, processor, transporter, testing laboratory or dispensary

A bill to legalize medical marijuana in Alabama is expected to be introduced in the Legislature in 2020.
