Application Window Opens for Investor Pitch Event

Cannabis entrepreneurs can now submit applications to take part in a mock investor pitch session at the Spring Marijuana Business Conference and Expo to be held in Chicago next month.

The deadline for applications to participate in the Marijuana Business Pitch Slam is April 10. The session will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on May 20 at the Chicago Hilton.

The five companies selected to present will deliver a short investment pitch in front of a live audience of industry professionals and a panel of experienced investors. The panel will then critique the presentations to provide insight into what investors look for when evaluating a pitch, and will select a winner for the “Best Pitch” award.

A similar session featuring live presentations by companies seeking funds was among the most popular educational content sessions at the event’s sister conference held in Las Vegas last fall. GreenBroz Inc., a manufacturer of marijuana processing equipment, won that slam.

The critique panel for the upcoming event is scheduled to include Troy Dayton of the ArcView Group, Emily Paxhia of Poseidon Asset Management, Douglas Leighton of Dutchess Capital and Tripp Keber of Dixie Brands.

The Marijuana Business Pitch Slam is an educational contest, not a solicitation for funding. So judges will be looking at areas such as the quality and type of information presented, the organization and structure of the pitch, and the speaker’s presentation style – rather than whether the business is a good investment opportunity.

The Marijuana Business Conference and Expo is run by Marijuana Business Media, the parent company of Marijuana Business Daily.
