Vape pens, for example, are enjoying broad appeal among consumers, especially casual users who find traditional smoking unappealing and consumers wishing to take advantage of its portable and discrete nature. Edibles, too, are rising in popularity as a way to consume cannabis discretely and in small doses. Vape pens are slightly more popular, however, in part because of onset delays with edibles and longstanding beliefs that edibles are inconsistent in dosing. Beverages represent only a small portion of total recreational marijuana sales and have neither increased nor decreased as a market segment between 2016 and 2018. Despite this, there has been a lot of recent interest in the infused beverages segment from major alcohol companies, including Constellation Brands, Molson Coors and Lagunitas.
