While a third of ancillary businesses serving cannabis started their companies in 2015 or earlier, two-thirds of companies opened in 2016 or later, possibly in response to the “green rush” that occurred after that year’s November elections. This trend is likely to continue as more states come online. Among companies that launched in 2017 or later, more were headquartered in California, Colorado, Florida or Massachusetts than other states.
