Regulations regarding recreational marijuana in Maine will go into effect 90 days after the state’s legislative session ended June 20. The new regulations govern all aspects of the production, testing, transportation and sale of marijuana products, with specific requirements regarding testing, labeling, packaging, advertising, inventory and more. The rules also tighten up residency requirements for marijuana business owners and establish five categories of cultivation licenses as well as licenses for retailers, manufacturers and testing facilities.
