MMJ Leaders to Address Medical Cannabis Issues at Students for Sensible Drug Policy Conference

Hundreds of college students will descend on Denver this weekend to discuss a host of issues related to drugs, from reform policies to legal developments. But the highlight of the Students for Sensible Drug Policy Conference – which kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday – involves medical marijuana.

The conference will go a long way towards helping groom the next generation of MMJ business owners and workers. The fact that it’s being held in Colorado – where voters will decide this fall whether to legalize cannabis for general use – also helps cement the state’s status as a hotbed of marijuana reform.

The agenda features a handful of sessions about medical cannabis issues, including one titled “Colorado: A Model for Medical Marijuana Regulation” and another called “Cannabusiness: From Activist to Entrepreneur.”

Several prominent figures in the marijuana industry will lead these discussions and give keynote speeches. Notable names include Steve DeAngelo of Harborside Health Center, local MMJ lawyers Brian Vicente and Sean T. McAllister, AnnaRae Grabstein of Steep Hill Lab, and Troy Dayton of the ArcView Group.

In addition to the MMJ leaders, the SSDP conference will feature well-known figures from the overall drug reform movement such as Mason Tvert of Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreaction (SAFER), Rob Kampia of the Marijuana Policy Project and Ethan Nadelmann of the Drug Policy Alliance.

The event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center (7800 East Tufts Ave.), starts tonight with a welcome reception and alumni gathering. MMJ professionals who want to attend but haven’t registered can do so at the door for the regular non-student price of $165.

One Comment:

  1. It is always hard for Patients Out of Time to understand why lawyers, ex-cops and activists are considered medical cannabis experts when they are not.

The real experts work with Patients Out of Time and it’s about time the cannabis business folks consulted with POT.

    Take care, al byrne
