Cannabis Magazine to be Sold at Airports

A consumer-focused cannabis magazine announced that it will be available in airports across North America starting this week, moving marijuana further into the mainstream and giving businesses a way to reach more patients and MJ users.

Under a deal with Hudson News, the bi-monthly magazine Cannabis Now will be sold at newsstands at 50 airports in the U.S. and Canada.

The magazine said it marks the first time a marijuana publication will be distributed nationally via airports in North America.

“What we’re seeing is a paradigm shift,” Eugenio Garcia, the magazine’s publisher, said in a press release. “It is the final step in acknowledging that cannabis is has become acceptable to the mainstream community.”

Cannabis Now, which was founded in 2010, has also started a seed round of investment funding with the aim of even further expansion.

It’s the latest set of milestones for the California-based magazine, which in 2013 also became the first marijuana-centric publication that could be purchased through the Apple iTunes Store. Cannabis Now is also available through Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, Kroger, various dispensaries and other marijuana-related businesses.
