Craft marijuana cultivator buys historic CA wine property

A craft cannabis cultivator has purchased the Northern California birthplace of Fetzer Wines, a major American winemaker, and plans to transform the property into a cannabis business.

San Francisco-based Flow Kana bought the 80-acre property and ranch house in Mendocino County, where it plans to start a full-service marijuana company that would include cultivation, processing, manufacturing and retail sales, the North Bay Business Journal reported.

The purchase price for the Redwood Valley property wasn’t disclosed. But a real estate agent representing the property owners said Flow Kana’s offer price was “more than close” to the asking price of $3.5 million, according to the North Bay Business Journal.

Flow Kana’s owners intend to live on the property, the newspaper reported.

Local planning officials said Flow Kana is the first marijuana company to approach them about cannabis business permitting. They expect more inquiries because of recreational legalization in the state.
