NEW HlRES & PROMOTlONS A look at some recent hiring moves in the marijuana industry by Omar Sacirbey & Movers Shakers Wana Grows in Advance of Expansion into New Markets Colorado-based edibles producer Wana Brands hired two new staffers and promoted three others as the company gears up to expand into new markets. In addition to Colorado, the company currently has a presence in Nevada and Oregon and is moving into Arizona, Maryland and Illinois. Wana named Stephanie Daley director of remote operations, where she will coordinate and support out-of-state partnerships. Daley, who has spent 14 years in the cannabis industry, also worked as director of post cultivation at The Farm, a Boulder-based retailer. Caitlin Murphy was appointed regional marketing specialist, a role in which she will plan, direct and coordinate marketing policies and programs for out-of-state business partners. Murphy first joined the cannabis industry as marketing director at Colorado-based retailer Emerald Fields. She has a back- ground in digital marketing and photography. Wana promoted James Weinberg to licensee coordinator, where he will help with external expansion. In particular, he tracks inventory for production, communicating with licensees to ensure quality and sourcing. Weinberg has been with Wana for five years. The company also promoted Rachel Ward as its new training chef. Ward will train cooks at out–of-state partners on the correct procedures for producing Wana’s edible products. Ward has served as kitchen manager since 2015. Angela May joins Wana as assistant graphic designer to perform design, organizational, logisti- cal and communications tasks. She will focus on packaging design, advertising and photography. Why all the hiring? Wana Brands co-owner Nancy Whiteman said the company “will see exponential growth in 2018 with expansion into several new markets.
