Canadian Pharmacy Goes Green Canadian licensed can- nabis producer CanniMed Therapeutics inked an agreement with PharmaChoice , one of the country’s larger pharmacy chains, to supply medical marijuana products to its 750 locations in Can- ada. The agreement is conditional on Health Canada’s approval of MMJ product distribution through pharmacies. Maricann Makes Pharma Move, Heads to Germany Maricann Group, a Toronto-based producer of medical marijuana, and Ontario’s oldest pharmacy chain, Lovell Drugs, struck a partnership under which Maricann will supply cannabis products to the pharmacy. Financial terms were not disclosed. Unlike other deals between pharmacies and medical cannabis growers, this one doesn’t require approval from Health Canada before MMJ can be supplied to patients. That’s because Maricann will fulfill prescriptions via registered mail directly to Lovell’s patients under the existing Access to Cannabis for Medicinal Purposes Regulations. Separately, Maricann expects to start shipping dry cannabis flower to Germany in early 2018, making it the latest Canadian company to export medical marijuana to what could soon become the world’s largest MMJ market. The company’s German subsidiary, Maricann GmbH, also applied for a license to import Maricann’s cannabis from Canada with the intention of distributing it directly to pharmacies. In addition, Maricann GmbH is one of 10 finalists among 118 applicants for the German government’s ten- der to cultivate MMJ. Germany is conducting an applica- tion process to select 10 licensed producers to cultivate marijuana from 2019 to 2022. A final decision could come as early as March. Dane Gain Ontario-based Canopy Growth, Canada’s largest cannabis producer, and Denmark’s Cannabis ApS , a leading European hemp producer, have entered a joint venture – Spec- trum Cannabis Denmark ApS – under which Canopy will build the first medical marijuana production facility in Denmark for the country’s new MMJ market. The venture will establish a 430,000-square-foot production facility in Odense – Denmark’s third-largest city – that is expected to produce about $8 million of product annually and serve the needs of about 60,000 patients. MüV Moves Canadian cannabis producer Aurora Cannabis and CannaRoyalty have signed a letter of intent giving Aurora exclusive rights to MüV brand products – to which CannaRoyalty holds the licensing rights – in Canada, Europe and Australia . Products covered under the agreement include MüV Metered Dose Inhaler, MüV Transdermal Patch, THC Sports Gel, THC Hydrating Lotion and THC Pain Relief Cream. The products are developed by AltMed Enterprises of Sarasota, Florida. CannaRoyalty holds an 8.3% equity stake in the Florida company. Tilray’s Czech Tilray , the British Columbia-based medical cannabis producer owned by Seattle private equity firm Privateer Holdings , is the first North American company to import dried medical cannabis products for nationwide distribution into the Czech Repub- lic. The country legalized medical cannabis in 2013. At least two Tilray products will be available through pharmacies, hospitals and clinics. Tilray’s Czech importer is Annabis s.r.o. , a producer of cannabis-derived dermatology products and food supplements. True Leaf Advice True Leaf Medicine International , a medical cannabis cultivation company in British Columbia that is awaiting a cultivation license, has retained Edison Advisors , a financial advisory firm headquartered in London, as its investor relations counsel while it attempts to raise money. ◆ Have a company announcement you want us to con- sider?
