Marijuana Business Magazine November December 2018

MAX SIMON CEO, Green Flower Ventura, California | Pick: Cannabis books and novelties We have a diverse group of clients that we work with, each with some very personal likes and dislikes. We try to really personalize gifts that are industry friendly and change them every year. It may be a cannabis-related book such as Steve DeAngelo’s "The Cannabis Manifesto" or "Cannabis Cocktails, Mocktails and Tonics" by Warren Bobrow. Tickets to an event, marijuana-shaped candles (Urban Outfitters) and phone cases (PerfCase) are among the items we find. CHARLES MCELROY Founder, Goldleaf Fairfield, Ohio | Pick: Tickets and experiential gifts Whenever possible, I like to gift employees and contractors with experiences. Experiences are more impactful and enjoyable long term, and they have the added bonus of promoting quality time with each other. We’ll gift tickets to Josh Ritter’s concerts, the Cincinnati Pops performing the "Star Wars" soundtrack, a bourbon-tasting event or tickets to places like the zoo or a ballgame. It helps us get to know the team a bit more personally and have some fun together. STEVE ALBARRAN Co-founder and CEO, Confident Cannabis Palo Alto, California | Pick: Confident Cannabis swag and Stance Socks People love wearing the words ‘Confident’ and ‘Cannabis’ in big text on their chests. I think they feel empowered. Also, I like gifting Stance socks. I love this brand. They make the best basics, and everyone’s life is better by knowing about them. I am not paid or endorsed by Stance – just a happy customer. KATE HECKMAN Director of Sales & Marketing, Stratos Denver | Pick: Lottery scratchers My favorite gift around the holidays is lottery scratchers. They make for a fun surprise. Many people don’t purchase scratchers for themselves, and in the best-case scenario they receive a little extra holiday cash. ANDY YASHAR Co-founder, The Daily Leaf Portland, Oregon | Pick: Events and thank-you parties The best thing that we do for our clients and employees is providing networking events and thank- you parties. We just had one last week, and we are still getting thanks from everyone. E ach month, we survey a group of marijuana industry executives and ask them to name a favorite item – such as a strain, top-selling product or edibles ingredient. We welcome your suggestions for topics. Email us at editorial@mjbizdaily.com . This month, we’ve asked five retailers to share their favorite holiday gifts for employees or vendors. 14 • Marijuana Business Magazine • November/December 2018
