Marijuana Business Magazine August 2019

Maine Recreational marijuana sales could begin in the state as soon as spring 2020 after Gov. Janet Mills signed a measure into law. Maine voters approved recreational marijuana in 2016, but the industry’s launch was stalled in part by legislative vetoes by former Gov. Paul LePage. Under the law, cities and towns that plan to allow recreational businesses must opt into the market. Only about 15 of Maine’s 455 municipalities have opted in thus far. Maryland The Medical Cannabis Commission extended the application period for cultivation and processing licenses in response to technical glitches. The commission’s online filing system wasn’t working for many of the 160-plus applicants who tried to meet the previous May 24 deadline, so applicants for 10 processor permits and four cultivation licenses were given until June 24 to get paperwork filed.
