Marijuana Business Magazine | January 2020 30 State News Industry Developments | International & State Alabama A commission considering laws about medical marijuana met at the Alabama State House to discuss the draft of an MMJ bill that will be introduced to the Legislature next year. State Sen. Tim Melson, the commission chair, asked members of the panel to study the proposal and recommended changes. Melson championed an MMJ bill last spring. It went through the Alabama Senate but stalled in the House. Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy installed Glen Klinkhart as interim director of the Alaska Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office, the agency that regulates legal cannabis and alcohol in the state. Klinkhart was appointed to replace Erika McConnell, who had held the job since March 2017 and was fired by the Marijuana Control Board. Klinkhart has served as director of drug policy for the state health department.
