Weekly Wrapup: Beyond the headlines for the week ended June 14, 2019

It’s been a whirlwind week here at MJBizDaily as we close out a packed week at MJBizConNEXT in New Orleans.

Here’s a recap of a few top takeaways at this year’s conference and newsmakers that caught our eyes at Investor Intelligence this week – plus a look at what we’ll be watching for next week.

Profitability on horizon for American MSOs?

Profitability has eluded most public multistate cannabis operators, but that could be changing, according to Seaport Global analyst Brett Hundley.

As early as 2020, Hundley expects more public MSOs to be posting positive earnings – at least at the EBITDA line on their quarterly balance sheets.

Hundley was one of three panelists featured during the session, “Sizing Up U.S.-based MSOs” on Thursday. He was joined by Williams O’Neil analyst Andrew Kessner and Cormark Securities analyst Jesse Pytlak.

Each of the analysts noted that investor scrutiny is still ramping up as MSOs continue their massive M&A activity – a costly endeavor needed to grab market share.

Who’s leading the way at this stage? Well, if you missed this session, you missed a lot.

We’ll be packaging up some other key takeaways in the coming weeks from this session and others that were packed with insight.
