Cannabis entrepreneurs can now submit applications to take part in an investor pitch session at the Marijuana Business Conference and Expo in Las Vegas this November.

The deadline for applications to participate in the Marijuana Business Pitch Slam is Oct. 3, and organizers will choose finalists by Oct. 6.

Those selected will present a short investment pitch in front of an audience of industry professionals and a panel of judges. The panel will critique the presentations to provide insight into what investors look for when evaluating a pitch, and judges will select a winner for the new annual “Best Pitch” award.

The session will be held from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Nov. 13 at the Rio All-Suites Casino and Hotel.

The Marijuana Business Pitch Slam is an educational contest, not a solicitation for funding. So judges will be looking at areas such as the quality and type of information presented, the organization and structure of the pitch, and the speaker’s presentation style – rather than whether the business is a good investment opportunity.

The panel of judges features Ben Cohen, the co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s; Emily Paxhia of Poseidon Asset Management; Patrick Rea of Miso Capital; Tom Bollich, the co-founder of Zynga and the current CEO of Surna Inc.; and Brendan Kennedy of Privateer Holdings.

The Marijuana Business Conference and Expo is run by Marijuana Business Media, the parent company of Marijuana Business Daily.
