Marijuana Software Exec Wins Fortune Magazine Award

The march towards mainstream acceptance continues for the marijuana industry.

An executive with MJ Freeway, a woman-owned cannabis software company in Denver, has been named as one of eight recipients of Fortune Magazine’s 2015 Most Promising Women Entrepreneur Award.

Jessica Billingsley, co-founder and chief operating officer of the company, will accept her award at a two-day summit in Washington DC in mid-October. Billingsley is the first woman from the cannabis industry to receive the award.

“The Most Promising Women Entrepreneurs add so much to the Fortune Most Powerful Women community by sharing how they create companies from scratch and scale their organizations at a pace and level of flexibility that are often the envy of Fortune 500 giants,” Pattie Sellers, Fortune’s assistant managing editor, said in a press release.

Billingsley said in the same release that she is “honored” to have been chosen for the award. See the full list of winners at Fortune.com.

MJ Freeway, founded in 2010, is one of the industry’s most prominent seed-to-sale tracking software providers in the cannabis space.
