Marijuana tourism companies are preparing for the start of recreational marijuana sales in Colorado on Jan. 1, promoting themed packages that include visits to retail marijuana shops and access to concerts and parties.
One company – Get Elevated – is offering a $1,500, five-night cannabis tour in Denver over the New Years holiday. The package includes lodging, special events and the chance to buy cannabis at retail shops.
Marijuana tourism is a promising niche in the emerging recreational industry, both in Colorado and in Washington State. There certainly seems to be a market: My 420 Tours quickly sold out of Colorado cannabis tour packages earlier this year tied to the cannabis holiday 4/20.
Recreational marijuana stores and edibles companies might want to consider partnering up with some of these tourism companies, as it will allow them to get in front of new consumers willing to spend big bucks in a short period of time.
