More Input Sought for CA Legalization Measure

Supporters of a measure to legalize and regulate marijuana in California are seeking additional input from the public and MMJ professionals before submitting their final proposal to the state.

The group behind the effort, Americans for Policy Reform, has extended the deadline for soliciting ideas and suggestions by at least another week.

It must submit any amendments and final changes to its measure – called the Marijuana Control, Legalization and Revenue Act of 2014 – in early December.

As part of their drive to seek as much input as possible – and generate support – supporters are holding meet-and-greet events throughout the state.

The goal is to get a measure with wide appeal on the 2014 ballot and make California the next state to legalize marijuana for adult use.

Recent polls show strong support for legalization in California, even though voters rejected a measure that would have done just that back in 2010.

However, a legalization bill will have a fighting chance this time around, as attitudes have changed significantly since then. The legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington State also has helped boost support for cannabis legalization across the country.
