The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe has launched what it calls the “largest marijuana store on the planet” in downtown Sin City.

The tribe has a medical cannabis dispensary that’s technically located on tribal lands but happens to be just north of the Las Vegas strip, on a 31-acre plot at the corner of Washington Ave. and Main St., Henderson TV station KVVU reported.

The dispensary had a soft opening on Monday, and the tribe has even bigger plans in the works, according to LasVegasNow.com, including a second dispensary and three greenhouses for MMJ cultivation.

The Paiute Tribe has partnered with Ultra Health, which is also in talks with “at least 20 other tribes in three different states” that are also weighing getting into the cannabis business, LasVegasNow.com reported.

The Las Vegas dispensary doesn’t have any particular price advantage over competitors, since the Paiute Tribe charges taxes equivalent to what other MMJ companies pay the state, KVVU reported.

The long-term plan for that storefront is to be open 24 hours a day and to have a drive-thru window for customers.

To date, Nevada’s state government has negotiated compacts with five different Native American tribes that want to operate in the cannabis business.
