Colorado Recreational Cannabis Industry Boosting Other Businesses

Marijuana-related companies aren’t the only businesses benefiting from the legalization of recreational cannabis in Colorado.

Some companies that have no direct ties to the industry are seeing growth as a result of legalization as well – which could help boost support for marijuana laws from the general business community.

Case in point: Peyton Manning – the much-vaunted quarterback of the Denver Broncos – purchased nearly two dozen Papa John’s Pizza franchises in Colorado several years ago. The stores’ profit margins have soared since Colorado legalized recreational cannabis in November 2012, Manning said, crediting the new law as a main force behind the growth.

“Pizza business is pretty good out here, believe it or not, due to some recent law changes,” Manning told Sports Illustrated in a recent interview.

According to a 2013 report from the news site TMZ, more than one of his restaurant’s daily sales jumped from $3,000-$4,000 a day to $5,000-$6,000 a day.
