A survey of Ohio’s registered medical marijuana cardholders found that the price of MMJ remains prohibitively expensive and it’s difficult to buy.
According to the Ohio State University’s Drug Enforcement Policy Center and the nonprofit advocacy group Harm Reduction Ohio, patients said the biggest barriers to purchasing medical cannabis, in order, were:
- High costs of medical marijuana products in the state.
- Distance to the nearest dispensary.
- Obtaining a doctor’s recommendation to acquire a medical cannabis ID card.
Ohio has roughly 52,000 patients registered to obtain medical cannabis.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports half of the 640 patients who responded to the survey said they were “very dissatisfied” with the current program.
