City officials have no plans to revisit its strict restrictions on marijuana advertising nor allowing cannabis beyond personal use and cultivation. Still, Washington DC is frequently influenced by political changes happening both nationally and in the neighboring states of Maryland and Virginia, both of which loosened medical cannabis regulations in 2018. Entrepreneurs will be watching this small market for incremental advances in business opportunities while keeping an eye on thawing opposition in the U.S. Congress and any impacts that could have in lawmakers’ backyards.
