Current Average Wholesale Cannabis Prices By State & Cultivation Method California Colorado Michigan Nevada Oregon Washington $0 $500 $1,000 $1,500 $2,000 $2,500 Weighted Average Price Per Pound, Week Ending 4/26/19 Indoor Greenhouse Outdoor U.S. Spot (Indoor): $1,476 U.S. Spot (Greenhouse): $938 U.S. Spot (Outdoor): $625 Prices for indoor-grown cannabis are typically higher because of the ability to maintain control over the growing environment to cultivate a consistent, high-quality crop. However, the difference in wholesale prices between indoor-, greenhouse- and outdoor-grown flower can be quite small in some mature markets, notably Oregon. With wholesale prices down year-over-year in the mature markets of Colorado, Oregon and Washington state, the cost of growing indoors is increasingly inefficient relative to the price. Greenhouses are coming up in popularity as a way to retain some measure of control over the growing environment, as with indoor growing, while capitalizing on free light from the sun as with outdoor growing. California outdoor cannabis is fetching the highest prices for outdoor flower, likely because of demand in the state’s massive market. Prices in Michigan remain strong, supported by one of the nation’s largest MMJ patient bases, as regulators work out final rules for the state’s adult-use industry. Nevada prices are above the nationwide average ― an impressive feat given that the state has few low-cost outdoor grows because of the harsh (i.e., sunny and arid) growing conditions.
