British Columbia Holding Company Buys California Dispensary Marapharm Ventures, a British Columbia holding com- pany, has entered into an agreement to buy Green Leaf Wellness, a 3-year-old dispensary in Desert Hot Springs, California, for $1.6 million (CA$2 million). Canopy Expands Hemp Business Canopy Growth is moving further into the Canadian hemp market with the acquisition of hemp land in Sas- katchewan that could scale to over 2,000 acres. The medical marijuana producer announced the acqui- sition of Green Hemp Industries. In addition to buying farm operations and associated assets, equipment, genetic stock and other property from the company’s principal, Jason Green, Canopy will oper- ate about 300 acres of existing hemp production. Canopy said it anticipates that acreage will be scalable to 2,200 acres for the 2018 growing season. Once the deal closes, Canopy will reimburse Green for crop “input expenses” and give him 24,576 common shares of Canopy stock. Canopy expects to issue up to another 24,576 common shares if Green’s company hits certain production-related milestones. Green also will lead Canopy’s hemp division. Liberty Strikes Deal to Produce Mary’s Medicinals Products in Florida Toronto-based Liberty Health Sciences – a medical cannabis investor and operator focusing on U.S. markets – said it struck a partnership with MM Technology Hold- ings to produce and distribute the Colorado company’s line of Mary’s Medicinals marijuana products in Florida.
