Dozens of California’s 109 federally recognized Native American tribes have reportedly expressed interest in entering the state’s regulated cannabis market when it launches.
But as the state’s unfinished regulations stand, those tribes may be forced to make a choice: Participate in the licit cannabis market or retain their sovereignty.
