California turns to technology in fight against illegal cannabis firms

In California’s continuing attempt to crack down on illicit marijuana companies, the Bureau of Cannabis Control is encouraging licensed MJ retailers to post their unique QR code in storefront windows.

Consumers would use their smartphone cameras to scan the QR codes to confirm whether they’re shopping at a licensed marijuana business.

The agency also is pushing legal marijuana businesses to educate consumers about the importance of buying from the legal marijuana market.
