Researchers at the University of California, Davis have joined forces with Biopharmaceutical Research, which is registered with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, to study marijuana for the benefit of law enforcement, health care providers and scientists.

The research could benefit cannabis companies by helping authorities to distinguish between marijuana and hemp.

The two groups of researchers will also analyze legal cannabis to determine the chemical composition of THC, CBD and other cannabinoids.

UC Davis also is launching a cannabis and hemp research center.

Among other things, the research center can advocate with policymakers on marijuana and hemp issues.

More information about the partnership and the research center can be found here.
