Canadian MMJ Producer Partnering With Brazilian Company

One of Canada’s largest medical cannabis producers has found yet another international partner – this time in Brazil.

Canopy Growth Corp., which owns Bedrocan, has teamed up with Brazilian company Entourage Phytolab SA and also founded a new subsidiary, Bedrocan Brazil. The latter will import MMJ products via either Canada or the Netherlands, according to the Financial Post. Entourage Phytolab SA will develop more medical cannabis products.

Bedrocan Brazil plans to establish its own cultivation and production facilities in the South American country after a time, but will begin by importing from its Canadian parent company.

Medical cannabis is not yet fully legal in Brazil. But the country has been importing hemp-based medical products for more than a year that are produced by Medical Marijuana Inc.

This is not Canopy Growth Corp.’s first international partnership: it announced in May that it is teaming up with Australian firm AusCann.
