Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth Corp. appointed current board member Luc Mongeau to serve as the company’s next CEO.
Mongeau takes the reins effective Jan. 6, 2025, according to a news release.
He replaces David Klein, who announced in August that he was retiring as Canopy’s CEO and from the board of directors.
Klein will stay on as a special adviser to the Smith Falls, Ontario-based company until Aug. 31, 2025, the release noted.
Canopy is still seeking to fill Klein’s seat on the board.
Mongeau became an observer to Canopy’s board in early 2023 and became a director in February 2024.
He takes the CEO spot at Canopy after spending more than two years as president and CEO of eSolutions Furniture in Jamestown, New York.
From 2017 to 2022, he was president of Toronto-headquartered bakery giant Weston Foods, a $2 billion company with more than 6,000 employees across 40 facilities.
Mongeau spent more than 14 years at Mars Petcare North America, finishing as president of the company’s U.S. division.
