, Colorado regulators release new ‘universal’ marijuana packaging symbolThe symbol is required for both medical and recreational cannabis, and for all types of products, whether it’s flower, concentrates, edibles, topicals, or vape cartridges, The Cannabist reported.

The symbol – which is a diamond that include the letters “THC” with an exclamation point above it – is in black for edibles and in red for all other types of products.

The red symbol also contains the warning: “Contains Marijuana. Keep away from Children.”

The symbol must be in use for all retail products by the start of 2019. Until then, there’s an “optional use period” for companies, according to a news release from the division.

But medical cannabis retailers will be allowed to continue selling products without the new symbol until July 1, 2019, as long as that inventory was transferred to the dispensary prior to Jan. 1, 2019.
