Ben Cook, a former MedMen chief operating officer, joined competitor Calyx Peak, a Nevada-based marijuana company with a presence in four states.

In his new role as COO of Calyx Peak, Cook will oversee the entire company’s operations in California, Massachusetts, Nevada and Ohio, according to a news release.

Ed Schmults, CEO of Las Vegas-headquartered Calyx Peak, said Cook will help “solidify our executive team” as the company seeks to expand.

Cook is among several high-profile executives to depart Culver City, California-based MedMen in a small exodus of staffers since late last year.

He was with MedMen for just eight months, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cook’s unexplained resignation from MedMen came to light in April along with the departures of Lisa Sergi, general counsel, and Daniel Yi, senior vice president of corporate communications.

Yi has since joined another multistate cannabis operator, Los Angeles-based Shryne Group.
