Vireo Health, a Minneapolis-based multistate marijuana operator, said it is expanding into Puerto Rico, the company’s 11th state or territory of cannabis operations.

Vireo will have the opportunity in Puerto Rico to run a cultivation and processing facility plus up to six dispensaries on the island.

Christian Gonzalez, a native of the territory who has been general manager of Vireo Health of Pennsylvania, will run the newly formed Vireo Health of Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico allows medical marijuana with 72,000 patients currently enrolled in the program. Another 100,000 patients are expected to be enrolled by the end of the year, according to Vireo.

Vireo trades on the Canadian Securities Exchange under the ticker symbol VREO.
