The expansion game continues.
Wana Brands, a Colorado-based edibles and extracts company, announced that it is planning to tap new markets via a partnership with Cannabics Pharmaceuticals, a Maryland-based company that develops timed-release capsules and cannabinoid-based medicines.
The development follows several moves by other infused products companies to expand both domestically and to other countries.
Wana said it will focus a big part of its U.S. expansion on Florida, New York, Illinois, Washington, California and Arizona. The company did not specify which international markets it plans to tap.
Wana and Cannabics made the announcement following their cooperation on WanaCaps, which are available in more than 400 of Colorado’s MMJ dispensaries and will hit the Oregon and Nevada markets in early 2016.
This sounds like interstate commerce to me and big business is getting a free ride to boot. while a little guy can’t even open a dispensary in most towns in California.
What’s next ? Will it be plant patents and trademark restrictions given to existing large agriculture firms ?
Just sounds like licensing IP to me…
