Medical marijuana businesses in Michigan soon will face a new licensing fee structure that will increase renewal costs for large growers but lower them for dispensaries.

The tiered pricing structure for the state’s 250 MMJ businesses will go into effect Oct. 1, according to Mlive.com.

“We want to make the fees reasonably related to the size of the operation, so businesses are paying an equitable share,” said Marijuana Regulatory Agency Director Andrew Brisbo.

Grower and processor fee rates will be determined by sales in product weight, while dispensary fee rates will be pegged to gross retail sales.
