Minnesota’s cannabis regulatory agency extended the deadline for adult-use business license applications after the computer system shut down for maintenance.
California-based Accela, the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM)’s third-party vendor, shut down the application website for maintenance at 9 p.m. CT Friday, and the system did not go back online until after 4 a.m. CT Saturday.
As a result, the OCM extended the license application deadline until 11:59 p.m. MT Saturday, according to Eden Prairie-based TV station KMSP.
The OCM was accepting applications for a variety of license types, including microbusiness, mezzobusiness, cultivator, manufacturer, wholesaler, transporter, testing facility, delivery service and medical cannabis combination business.
Some of the license categories have caps, including mezzobusiness at 100, cultivators at 50, manufacturers at 24 and retailers at 150.
Half of the capped licenses will be split evenly between social equity and general applicants, according to OCM.
Accela, which provides software solutions to local and state governments, also has offered online services to marijuana programs in South Dakota and Los Angeles.
