Rhode Island Senate leaders said they won’t support legalizing adult-use cannabis if Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo proposes legalization in 2020.

Democratic Senate President Dominick Ruggerio said recreational marijuana will have a negative impact on the state’s youth.

And Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey, also a Democrat, said he worries how legalization could impact worker safety, federal work requirements for defense contracts and testing of impaired drivers.
