California’s Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC) announced further enforcement actions against unlicensed marijuana businesses.
This sweep was against a pair of illegal retailers – one in Los Angeles and the other in Sacramento County.
Licensed MJ firms in the state have long complained about black-market operators severely undercutting their sales.
For their part, state and local authorities have reported several enforcement actions in recent months as they continue efforts to crack down on illicit operations.
Here are details on the latest busts:
- On Jan. 31, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) Division of Investigation’s Cannabis Enforcement Unit raided Nollie Green-Blu Solutions, an unlicensed marijuana delivery business in the town of Fair Oaks, which is northeast of Sacramento. Officials seized more than $250,000 worth of marijuana products, according to a news release, but no arrests were reported.
- On Feb. 5, DCA’s Enforcement Unit assisted the Los Angeles Police Department with the execution of a search warrant on an illegal L.A. marijuana shop, Smoking Aces, which resulted in the arrests of six suspects and the seizure of more than $27,000 in cannabis products and two firearms.
The Fair Oaks raid stemmed from a complaint filed with the BCC. The agency encourages licensed businesses to identify illegal MJ companies operating without proper permitting.
