Bill Expanding Illinois MMJ Market Advances

The Illinois House Judiciary Committee voted 10-6 on Wednesday in favor of a bill that would enable military veterans to obtain medical marijuana.

The measure would bring thousands of additional potential patients to the market, resulting in millions of dollars in additional medical cannabis sales.

The bill now moves to the state’s House, which will decide whether to adopt the measure as law.

Illinois legalized medicinal marijuana in August, however patients must obtain a letter of recommendation from a doctor. The home doctors for military veterans are federal employees, and thus cannot approve the drug.
