An Oregon agency on Friday said it will ban CBD in alcoholic beverages, a blow to marijuana and hemp companies in or planning to enter this growing field.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission will prohibit the manufacture, distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages containing CBD.

The new rule takes effect Jan. 1, though the first month will be dedicated to compliance education.
